The company also provides merchant services for third-party retailers; marketing and promotional services; and Web services comprising Amazon simple storage service, Amazon elastic compute cloud, Amazon simple queue service, Amazon mechanical turk, and Amazon e-commerce service for developers.

In addition, it operates other Web sites, including a9.com and alexa.com that enable search and navigation; and www.imdb.com, a movie database. The company was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington.
